Luxury vinyl plank has taken over main living areas for good reasons: it's waterproof, it handles dogs and dropped toys, it cleans with a mop, and modern planks look convincingly like wood. For kitchens, living rooms, hallways, and entries, it's hard to beat.
Carpet still wins in bedrooms and on stairs. It's warmer underfoot on winter mornings, it quiets a second floor, and it's softer if someone takes a tumble. A good pad under it matters as much as the carpet itself.
The most common layout we install is exactly that split: LVP through the main floor and hallways, carpet in the bedrooms and up the stairs. The transition pieces at each doorway are where cheap installs show, so we plan those carefully.
Whichever you choose, measure twice. Flooring is priced by the square foot with waste figured in, and an accurate measurement is the difference between a clean estimate and a surprise on the invoice.
